The unrestricted A license is mine, now it is time to select and buy a bike. I have given this a lot of thought beforehand, but of course only now am I in a position to do test rides to find out what really fits.
From an aesthetical point of view I quite like the retro models that seem to be the current hype, especially the Triumph Street-Twin. But on the test ride it becomes obvious pretty fast that I am just too tall for that type of machine. There won’t be much fun to be had for me, taking this for longer tours.
After some more research and test riding some very old used bikes, I decide to instead go with a purely rational decision and purchase a brand new Honda NC 750 X. I had been told that this is a great beginner’s bike, very fuel efficient and cheap in maintenance, and very practical with its “fake tank” storage facility.
It is in fact all of that and so far I have not regretted my decision one bit.
